A classic and very impressive Rioja Reserva that I would certainly put in good value territory. This is 100% Tempranillo with grapes sourced from prime vineyards in the Rioja Alta. The wine is matured for 18 months in oak barrels and a further 18 months in bottle before release. This allows the flavours and structure of the wine to integrate, so when you come to drink it, the tannins are softer, the fruit is more developed and the alcohol succinctly integrated.
Above all a beautifully balanced wine. You have freshness, lots of spicy coconut and vanilla oak notes and a medley of dried red fruits. It’s complex, intensely fragrant and has wonderful tannins that provide a textured mouthfeel that carries a long finish. Wonderful wine.
