Located in the heart of the historic Brewery Square development in Dorchester, M&B HQ is a stylish wine lover’s paradise of well-chosen, great value wines, which are also available by the glass and online. Our wines are chosen with care using 30 years of knowledge and a deep passion for wine. We also stock an interesting range of gins, spirits and local ales and ciders.
Mark is known in the wine trade for his excellent palate and his ability to assess and value wines. He is also known for his approachable, friendly style and his ability to help customers choose the right wine for the right occasion.
Mark Banham joined the wine trade in 1990 as a Junior Buyer for the highly respected Luckins Wine Store in Great Dunmow, Essex. He studied at the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) in London passing all examinations including Diploma by the age of 21. After gaining a degree in Geography & Archaeology at Leicester University, Mark returned to the wine trade working for Tanners Wines, the great Shropshire wine merchant. In 2002, Mark was invited to join Palmers Brewery and has spent a decade sourcing wine to create a list to rival the best London wine merchants. In 2014 Mark became a WSET Certified Educator and delivers WSET approved education in the beautiful surroundings of the award winning Furleigh Estate in Bridport, Dorset.
At Morrish & Banham HQ, alongside our extensive choice of retail wines we offer wines by the glass & bottle from our well-chosen list to enjoy in our Tasting Room at any time. We host Private Tutored Wine or Gin Tastings complemented by Tapas Boards which include charcuterie & cheeses from Dorset for groups of family, friends or colleagues. We present monthly Wine Tastings at The Seaside Boarding House in Burton Bradstock and monthly Wine Tasting Dinners at YC’s Cafe in Dorchester. We host regular Wine & Food Matching Events at M&B HQ and offer WSET, industry recognised wine education at the Morrish & Banham Wine School.
